Happy Halloween

Wednesday night was pumpkin carving night. Jacob picked the face he wanted and he and Gramma drew it on the pumpkin. Then we cut the top off and Jacob wasn't sure what to think about the inside. He didn't want to touch any of the 'gooey' stuff. At first he very carefully picked one pumpkin seed at a time out.
We finally got him to get a handful and he still wasn't too thrilled about touching that "yucky stuff" as he called it.
He wouldn't let any stringy part stay on his fingers each time he pulled his hand out.
After a few minutes he got the hang of it and started to enjoy pulling the insides out.
Next came the carving. Gramma had to do it without Jacob holding on because he would decide to try and grab the part they were cutting before it was ready to come out and almost got his finger sliced. So he went and got his little butter knife out and cut the little pieces into even smaller pieces.
He also got a little pumpkin that we just drew a face on. He didn't want a different one, the big one and the little one had to match.
Here is his (and Gramma's) art work all lit up on the porch.
And here is Haley with her little pumpkin. She was thrilled with the whole experience as you can tell. Actually she slept through most of it.
Then came trick-or-treating on Friday. Jacob wanted to be a monkey, and what a cute one he was. Haley was the cutest black kitty I have ever seen.
Here's Bubba monkeying around before we left.
and baby sister snoozing away (which she did the entire time we were trick-or-treating). I decided to put little bows on the kitten ears so that people would know it was a girl, not a boy!
That's it for Halloween. Gramma has been here the past week and spoiling all of us.
It's hard for Jacob to share Gramma's attention. He tells her "give her to mom to hold" when he's done sharing.
But Jacob has been getting lots of special attention too. Like our funny face pancake brunch that he helped make.
And he's getting more and more helpful with his baby sister.
He's a wonderful big brother!
