Vacation to California

In August, the kids and I boarded a plane to California! Our first stop was Malibu to visit Becca, Thomas and Bailey (the second stop will be another post because I've got a bunch of California pictures). This is the view from their back yard...that is not the sky, it's the ocean (ok the top part is the sky but the majority of it is ocean). It was a littel foggy the first few days and didn't get another picture later. Haley kept falling off the patio into the grass, don't worry it was only about a 2 inch drop. She didn't think it was very funny the first time but then it turned into a little game since we laughed at her.Jacob has started asking to take pictures. He's actually pretty good! The next two pictures are taken by Jacob. Sorry he cut your head off Becca, it's an aweome shot.This was the playground up (and I mean UP-my legs were really sore after all the hills and the 3rd floor guest room, I know how Becca stays in shape!)the hill from Thomas and Becca's place.
Jacob was afraid to go down this slide when he stood at the top so I had to go first. When he saw that you really had to work at it to get down he went for it. He stood up right about this point and walked the rest of the way down. Haley wasn't too sure about the sand at the play ground. She would touch it, but she would NOT move. After a few days in Malibu Rebecca and Bailey took us to the Santa Barbara zoo. Here are the girls 'chatting' away while Jacob checked out the elephants....and here they are waiting on us again.We got to feed the giraffes-ok, I feed the giraffes. Jacob wasn't too sure he wanted the giraffes tongue to touch him. Gramma you would have loved to be that close to your giraffes! Bailey pooped out about halfway through. We hoped she would stay awake and sleep on the way back home but it didn't quite work out that way...I think Jacob's favorite part was climbing on this little elephant. Haley was a little freaked out by it but once she figured out it wasn't alive, she was ok.Thanks for having us Becca, I miss you!!Auntie Jenn came and picked us up from the zoo since it was about half way between Malibu and Pismo beach. We fueled up, got a little snack and hit the road......the zoo really took it out of this one! :) Next stop, Arroyo Grande/Pismo Beach. Next post, the wedding!
