We had a wonderul Holiday break! While we missed seeing famiy, we enjoyed not traveling and just getting to relax and have a good time. I just don't think traveling with 2 young children quite makes the definition of 'vacation'.
On the eve of Christmas eve, we went and got the Mathew's kids, ate some pizza and were all set to head out to BLORA to see the Christmas lights! Then, a friend told us that she went the night before and was there for 7 hours because there were TONS of people there. Once your on the 'tour' you can't just turn around and leave. So, we decided to just stay home and let the kids have fun. Loren and I made sugar cookies and then the kids (-Jordan) decorated them. We watched a movie, played and had a great time!

Christmas eve Jacob and I made a gingerbread house. It was very hard for him to not eat the candy but the whole thing did make it until Christmas day.
We actually got some snow on Christmas eve....I really don't know when the last time Central Texas had a white Christmas (never since we've lived here) but we did this year. It snowed off and on most of the afternoon and we actually had a layer of snow on the ground Christmas morning. Jacob was so excited about the snow, he had to go catch some snowflakes on his tongue. He was just a little disappointed when it didn't snow enough to make a snowman!
He only stayed outside for a few minutes cause it was just too cold!
Here we are making cookies for Santa. Well, licking the batter off the utensils...that is the BEST part!

We open one gift on Christmas eve. The kids will soon find out that it's always the same thing - new jammies and a book.
Haley likes to put any article of clothing, towel, or blankie on her head. She was no different with her new jammies...poor daddy was right in the way!
Christmas morning, Haley was the first one up. After we tried to get her to lay down in bed with us for a few minutes we finally put her on the floor and she headed to the tree. She saw the cookie crumbs Santa left and that was all she needed!
Jacob came in and just couldn't believe it.
Haley got a kitchen
and Jacob got a big boy bike. (He hasn't been on it much because it's been unusually cold here since Christmas. We had a high of 30 yesterday and for us Texans, thats COLD!!)
A few comfy gifts:

Haley didn't really get into opening presents this year, maybe next year. She was satisfied to open one and just play with the other stuff that was out. Jacob loved it because he got to "help" open all of hers too.
Daddy helped Jacob build a cabin with his new lincoln logs. That was a chore trying to keep Haley out of it!
Here they are Christmas night. Haley was pooped so she went to bed a little early. I didn't get any good pictures of them in front of the Christmas tree...these will have to do.

The next week was spent hanging out with friends and having fun. This is Mr. Dennis and Haley one evening. We went to their house to play bowling on the Wii. (Tommy, I'll have you know that it's one video game that I dominated at!)
We went down to the outlet mall in San Marcos one day. Jacob got tired of walking and Haley got tired of riding in the stoller...
Of course, you can't pass right by a Cabela's (at least when Jon is in the car) and not stop. Jacob loves to see the fish and all the "stuffed animals" they have.

Trying to get pictures of the kids in their matching jammies didn't go so well. Haley just isn't very cooperative if it's not her idea (we will be butting heads alot as she gets older).
Christmas eve Jacob and I made a gingerbread house. It was very hard for him to not eat the candy but the whole thing did make it until Christmas day.
We had a great time over the 2 week break. We look forward to seeing family in 2010!
